TurboScanner Terms of Use
Effective September 15, 2026
These terms cover the TurboScanner Android app
(org.tvoidom.turboscanner) and its Pro subscription. They do not cover the Tvoidom
Studio website or our studio services, which have their own
Terms of Use. How we handle your data is described in the
TurboScanner Privacy Policy.
By installing or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1) Who provides the app
Tvoidom Studio (LLC Ecoformers LLC)
400 Corporate Pointe, Suite 300, PMB 6040
Culver City, CA 90230, United States
support@tvoidom.org
2) What the app does, and what it does not promise
TurboScanner reads the products out of a picture of your shopping list, matches them against a store catalog, and shows you what it found, including a barcode where we have one. It can also look up a barcode you scan and show what we know about that product.
A few things follow from that, and we would rather say them plainly than bury them:
- Recognition and matching are best-effort. A picture can be misread, and a product can be matched to the wrong item, the wrong size or the wrong brand. Check what you are buying before you buy it.
- Catalog data can be stale or wrong. Prices, sizes, availability and barcodes come from sources we do not control and change without notice. The price you see in the app is not an offer, and it is not a promise about the price at the register.
- Product information can be wrong. Names, brands, sizes and pictures on a barcode card come from our catalog, from public databases — USDA FoodData Central, and Open Food Facts, whose data is written by volunteer contributors and licensed under the Open Database License — and from photos other shoppers share. Any of it can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check the package itself, especially for ingredients and allergens.
- Barcode coverage is uneven. Some stores have far more saved barcodes than others, and there is no coverage we promise for any store. Whether a particular code scans at a particular register depends on the store and its equipment.
The app is a shopping aid, not a payment method and not a substitute for the store's own checkout. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Costco, Kroger, Ralphs, Sprouts, Instacart, Walmart, Target, Amazon, eBay, Google, the U.S. Department of Agriculture or Open Food Facts.
3) Your account
You must be 18 or older to use TurboScanner.
Signing in with Google is optional; it exists so your subscription follows you between devices, and sharing product photos needs it. You are responsible for the Google account you sign in with. You can delete your account at any time — see Delete your TurboScanner account.
4) TurboScanner Pro
Pro is a recurring subscription sold through Google Play. The current prices and billing periods are shown in the app before you subscribe, and Google shows them again at purchase. Payment is taken by Google, not by us; we never see your card details.
It renews automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time in Google Play → Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancelling stops the next charge; the current period runs to its end.
A free trial, where offered, converts into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends. A trial is available once per Google account.
Deleting your account does not cancel the subscription, because the subscription lives in Google Play. Cancel it separately.
5) Refunds
Purchases are handled by Google Play, so refunds follow Google Play's refund policy and are requested through Google. If something went wrong on our side, write to support@tvoidom.org and we will help you sort it out with Google, and where we can, directly. Nothing here removes rights you have under the law where you live, including California consumer law.
6) Fair use
Please do not:
- use the app to break the law, or to break a store's own rules;
- automate, scrape or resell what the app returns, or use it to build a competing catalog;
- upload other people's private documents, or anything you do not have the right to upload;
- share photos or product names that break the rules in section 8, or report photos that break no rule;
- attack, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or try to get around the paywall.
We may suspend access that does any of this, or only the ability to share photos. If we suspend access and you had paid time remaining, write to us.
7) Your content
The pictures of your lists that you import stay yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to process a picture so we can return your list, and to keep the limited diagnostic copies described in the privacy policy.
Product photos you share stay yours too, but other shoppers see them, so they come with a wider permission, set out in section 8.
Barcodes you scan are a special case worth naming: the number goes into a shared catalog so other shoppers benefit, and after your account is deleted it carries no link to you. Names you type for barcodes we do not recognize (Add as is) help us find products missing from our catalog, and you let us use them for that. They are not shown to other shoppers.
8) Photos you share
In a store, when you scan a product that the store's catalog doesn't carry and we have no picture of it, the app may let you share a photo of it with other shoppers. Sharing is optional and needs Google sign-in. When you tap Agree in the app, you accept this section along with the rest of these terms.
What you promise
- You took the photo yourself, or you otherwise have the right to share it.
- It shows the product you scanned, and the name you type, if any, is that product's name.
The permission you give us
You keep ownership of your photo. By sharing it, you give Tvoidom Studio (LLC Ecoformers LLC) a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, re-encode, resize, crop and display the photo, and the product name shown with it, in TurboScanner; to let every TurboScanner user who scans that product see them there; and to have our service providers process them for us, including for the automatic check described below.
The licence lasts until the photo is deleted from our server (the privacy policy says how long that takes) or you delete your account. Copies already saved on other people's phones can take a while to disappear after that, as the privacy policy explains. We do not have to show any photo, we can stop showing one at any time, and we do not sell your photos.
What you must not share
A shared photo should show one packaged product, and nothing else that matters. Do not share:
- people: a face, a body or any person, including in a reflection or a picture (a hand holding the product is fine);
- personal information about anyone, anywhere in the photo, background included: names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, prescription or pharmacy labels, shipping or address labels, licence plates, documents, receipts, or screens showing personal content;
- nudity or sexual content;
- violence, weapons, drugs, hate symbols, or offensive words or writing;
- anything other than the product you scanned: a shelf, a room, a pet, a screen, food without its packaging, a drawing, text alone, or several different products (several identical units or one multipack are fine);
- a photo too blurry, dark or small to recognize the product;
- a product name that is misleading or offensive, or that contains personal information, a link or contact details;
- anything you do not have the right to share, such as someone else's photo;
- advertising or spam.
How photos are checked
Every photo is checked before other shoppers see it, automatically by Google Gemini (an AI service we use) or by a person on our team. People on our team may also review any photo, before or after it is shown, and may set the name shown with it. The automatic check can get things wrong in either direction, and a photo being shown is not a statement by us that it is accurate or allowed. One account can share only a limited number of photos a day.
Reporting a photo
Anyone using the app can report a shared photo with Report photo. A photo reported by two different people is hidden automatically. If a photo shows a person or someone's personal information, or you believe it uses something that belongs to you, also write to privacy@tvoidom.org with the product's barcode and we will look at it. Please report only photos that break these rules; we may restore a photo hidden by reports that were not made in good faith.
If the rules are broken
We may reject, hide or delete any photo, and we may block an account from sharing photos, with or without notice. A block follows the Google account: deleting your account and signing in again with the same Google account does not lift it (the privacy policy describes the one-way key we keep for this). A block affects photo sharing only, not the rest of the app or your subscription. Serious or repeated abuse can also lead to the suspension described in section 6.
9) Store websites you open from the app
When you scan from Anywhere, the Compare prices buttons open Walmart, Target, Amazon, eBay or Google Shopping search pages inside the app. Those pages belong to those companies, not to us. The prices, availability, listings, ads and terms you see there are theirs, and they can differ from what you find in your store. A search can show products that are not the one you scanned. Anything you buy, or any account you sign in to there, is between you and that company. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or what they do with your data.
10) Changes to the app and to these terms
The app changes; features can be added, altered or removed, and stores can be added or dropped. If we change these terms in a way that matters to a paying subscriber, we will say so in the app's release notes on Google Play and update the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it. If you do not, cancel and stop using the app.
11) Disclaimers and limits
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we do not warrant that recognition will be accurate, that catalog data, product information or shared photos will be correct, or that the service will be uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to the app is limited to what you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, and where that is so, they do not apply to you.
12) Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory law where you live.
